On the 1st of July 2024, in central Gaza, my unit were involved in an explosion that occured whilst deployed on our third round of Miluim (now on our 5th round in Syria). Sadly, two soldiers were killed, the company commander Eyal Avnion and the sergeant Nadav Knoller, who was also a good friend of mine. Eyal was 24 when he was killed and Nadav was 30, married to Hadar and had a son Yaer. Both had incredible qualities that made them into unique people, easy to get along with, always looking out for you and making you feel cared for. Always with a smile.

They may have been opposites in the way they lived their lives, but regardless of anything, they were two Jews who were sadly taken together, on the same night.
